HUPnet

The Helsinki University Public Network (HUPnet) is a network to which a University student or employee possessing a user ID can connect his or her own (laptop) computer. Persons from outside the University can apply for a visitor's permit, obtained at customer service points, which will enable them to use workstations and the HUPnet network.

Connecting to the wired HUPnet
To be able to connect to the wired HUPnet, the computer must have an Ethernet network card that is connected to the HUPnet network socket. Wired HUPnet Internet connections are found in the Rotunda, the American Resource Center, the Slavonic Library, the Music Library, the Electronic Materials Reading Room and the Fennica Reading Room.

Connecting to the wireless HUPnet
To connect to the wireless HUPnet, the computer must have an 802.11b or 802.11g WLAN card.
