The Minister Carl Enckell Map Collection
In Minister Carl Enckell's (1876-1959) map collection can be traced the development of the cartographic picture of Finland until the year 1800. The collection for the most part contains Northern European maps: Finland, Scandinavia, Arctic areas, the Baltics and Russia. The collection contains approximately 600 maps printed before 1800. Of these over 100 depict Russia.
The collection's maps have been photographed on roll film, which can be accessed in the Library's Reading Room. The original maps can be studied in the Fabiania building's Special Reading Room, where the collection's map catalogues are located.
