The Eino Mikkola Collection

In 1988 the estate of Professor Eino Mikkola (1905-1987) donated Mikkola's exceptionally wide-ranging library, consisting of over 30,000 titles, to the Library. The collection contains a large quantity of Finnish literature printed during the Era of Swedish Rule, prohibited political literature and first editions of Finnish fiction. Mikkola's own research areas, classical philology and Antiquity research, are also extensively represented in the collection. Parts of the collection have been dispersed among the Library's other collections or have been sent to the Kuopio Repository Library, but four special entities - a total of approximately 8,000 volumes - have been preserved as separate collections:
- Classica
- Communistica
- Old Fennica
- First editions of Finnish fiction

Use
The special collections contained within the collection are used in the Special Reading Room.
