Newspapers
Newspapers are defined as publications with local or national news content, published at least once a week. However, not all newspaper-shaped publications, such as the annual magazines of sports associations, are considered newspapers. Newspapers are
- publications with national news content
- local and regional publications with news content
- free publications which include news content in addition to advertisements.
All newspapers published in Finland are recorded on microfilm to ensure their preservation. Recording on microfilm is carried out in the Centre for Microfilming and Conservation of the National Digitization Centre. For this reason, printing houses are instructed to send newspapers directly to the Centre in Mikkeli.
One (1) legal deposit copy must be submitted of each issue of the newspaper. Two signed lists of the content must be attached to each deposit. One of the lists will be signed and returned to the sender. The legal deposit copies must be submitted four times a year to the address:
