Conservation services
The National Library’s Centre for Preservation and Digitisation offers conservation services for its customers. The conservation measures are negotiated with the client on a case-by-case basis. Before a preservation contract is made, a job-specific estimate for preservation expenses is drafted.
Examples of conservation:
- Surface cleaning of bound covers and edges
- Surface cleaning of printed material
- Treating acidity
- Stabilizing, repairing and protection measures
- Repairing bindings
Conservation consultation and training:
In addition to the conservation service, the Centre for Preservation and Digitisation offers consultation and training in matters related to conservation. The consultation and training is customised to the needs of the client. In most cases, the condition and storing conditions of the material are investigated during a consultation, and a recommendation for steps to be taken is made.
