Approximately 50 professionals are employed by the Centre
The Centre was founded in 1990
Main tasks:
Preservation of the published cultural heritage and production of facsimile copies of the National Library’s material by microfilming and digitising the material
Responsibility for the production systems and production databases
Responsibility for the development of the publishing system of digitised material (digi.nationallibrary.fi)
Further development of metadata solutions for digitised material in cooperation with the other functional units of the National Library
Active participation in cooperation in the library field, international organisations as well as EU projects
Provision of digitisation and preservation services to external customers
