Changes in the National Library’s price list for services

Prices for the library and information services of the National Library of Finland will change as of 1 September 2010.
Reservations will be free of charge. By eliminating the reservation fee, the National Library wishes to support book-oriented research of the humanities. To avoid situations where reserved books stack up on the reservations shelf, a fee of € 2 will be charged for uncollected reservations.
The fee for overdue loans will be doubled, and minor adjustments will be made to some other service fees. Together these changes will accelerate the circulation of books.
Changed fees
Helka services (VAT at 0%):
- The reservation fee will be eliminated (previously € 1).
- A fee of € 2 will be charged for uncollected reservations
(previously no fee).
- The fee for overdue loans will rise to € 0.30/day/volume
(previously € 0.15/day/volume);
the maximum charge for overdue loans will be € 4.20/volume.
- Suspension of borrowing privileges € 15 (previously € 10)
- Replacement of a lost Helka card € 5 (previously € 8.40)
Interlibrary loans (VAT at 0%):
- Book loans for customers from other libraries: from Finland and the other Nordic countries € 13 (previously € 10), from other countries € 28 (previously € 25)
- Book loans for other libraries: Governmental and municipal libraries in Finland € 10 (previously € 8), other libraries in Finland € 20 (previously € 16) and libraries abroad € 25 (previously € 21)
Digital copies (VAT at 23% included in the price):
- € 23/scanning (including the CD) (previously € 20)
Expert services (VAT at 23% included in the price):
- Information Service € 45/hour (including a reasonable number of printouts) (previously € 36)
- Image processing € 45/hour (previously € 36)
- Digitising of a sound recording € 45/hour (previously € 36)
- Fee for the supervision of the photographing of rare materials € 30 (previously € 36)
New fees
Printouts from a Library workstation, including workstations for browsing the Web Archive
- € 0.20
Images (VAT at 23% included in the price):
The Library has a collection of images.
- Poster A2 (cardboard) € 28
- Poster A1 (document paper) € 28
Poster ordered from the collection of images € 43 (delivery time 2-3 working days) The price includes a cover case.
Replacement of a lost locker key (VAT at 23% included in the price)
