A new database - Early Russian Cinema

The National Library has acquired the right of use to the Early Russian Cinema/Russian Cinematographic Press-online-journal collection for one year starting from 1.1.2009
The service includes 33 digitized cinematographic journals, which have appeared within the Russian empire’s domain from year 1907 until year 1918. The journals, which describe the early period of the Russian cinema and cinematographic culture, include movie presentations, reviews, interviews and theatrical repertoires. The journals discuss also other forms of entertainment arts. The language is mainly Russian, but there are also a few advertisements in Estonian and German.
Early Russian Cinema is available at the Helsinki university network for researchers, students and staff of Helsinki University. Early Russian Cinema-material is available for all interested at the National Library and other Helsinki university libraries.
