Logging into the PC Network

  • The display shows the Novell Login selection window. If it is not visible, press the Alt + Ctrl + Del keys simultaneously.
  • Enter your user ID in its full form (for example ktunnus.kirjasto.it.hy) in the Username field. The user ID must be entered in exactly the right form; note also the dot appearing at the beginning of the user ID!
  • Enter your password in the Password field and press OK.
Logins take from a minute to a few minutes.

    Problem situations

    • The message "The system could not log you into the network..." means that either the user ID or password is incorrect. Check that you wrote the user ID in exactly the right form. Carefully re-enter your password.
    • The message "The password for user KTUNNUS has expired..." means that the password is no longer valid. When the machine asks the question "Do you want to change your password?", you should answer affirmatively ("Yes"), because the password will lock after the fifth notification. The password obtained from the User Permit Service should be changed immediately when logging in for the first time and subsequently at intervals not exceeding two years.
    • The message "The tree or server cannot be found..." generally signifies a malfunction in the server or communications network. Wait about a minute and try again. If the message reappears, inform the EDP information desk.
