Reading Room Loans

Materials from closed stacks are furnished as reading room loans according to the regulations governing the use of the collection. The materials are reserved for customers for a period of four weeks. If necessary, the loan period can be extended.

The National Collection's materials can only be examined at the Fabiania building's Fennica Reading Room. A separate right of use application is required for materials subject to license (for example, leisure magazines and fiction).

Only the Research Collection's literature printed before 1900, the Slavonic Library's literature printed before 1960 and the special collections' materials are furnished for reading room loans.

To use the special collections, a customer must have a special reading room card, which can be applied for in the Special Reading Room.

The Research Collection's materials printed during and after the 1800s are delivered to the Rotunda, where they can be retrieved from the open shelves. After using the materials, customers must return them to the open shelves. When a reading room loan is not needed anymore, it must be returned to the library attendant, who sends it back to the closed stack.

The Slavonic Library's reading room loans are delivered to the Fabiania building's Fennica Reading Room.
