Dissertations
Domestic dissertations
The University of Helsinki's loanable dissertations can be found on the Rotunda's 4th floor in connection with the open collection's facsimile collection, signum Diss. HY dupl. Dissertations belonging to the same collection, but printed before 1900, are kept in closed stacks, from where they can be ordered for reading room use. Dissertations published during the current year are stored in the General Reading Room's 2nd floor.
Location information concerning other universities' dissertations can be found in the Helka database.
The E-thesis Service publishes the University of Helsinki's electronic dissertations.
Foreign dissertations
Foreign dissertations published from 1975 onwards are catalogued in the HELKA database. Most of the dissertations published after 1800 have been sent to the National Repository Library in Kuopio. A certain number of uncatalogued foreign dissertations from the countries listed below are still stored in the closed stacks.
- Germany 1825-1929
- Scandinavia 1826-1974
- Hungary 1900-1940
