Foreign Newspapers

The Library acquires the most important foreign Western newspapers primarily on microfilm. Old newspaper editions are also preserved. The Library has the largest collections of foreign newspapers in Finland. They are catalogued in the database HELKA or in the Repertorio catalogue in the Middle Hall.

Newspapers of the Russian minorities received as deposit copies during the Russian era 1828 - 1917

The newspapers and periodicals of the Russian minorities are in the collections Estonica, Lettonica, Lithuanica, Armeniaca, Georgica, Hebraica, Jiddisch, Russica etc.

Newspapers in the Slavonic Library

The Slavonic Library has an extensive collection of Russian newspapers and periodicals from the Russian era of 1828-1917, when the Library had the right to deposit copies of everything printed in Russia. Today the Slavonic Library purchases newspapers in Russian and other Slavonic languages.

The material is delivered at certain hours. Please check with the staff in the Information or the Newspaper Room. Newspapers can also be ordered from the stacks by e-mail. Please give as exact information as possible.
