The Turcica Collection

The Turcica Collection consists of literature of the Islamic Turkish peoples of Russia from the period 1840-1917 that the Library received as deposit copies during the Russian era.

This unique collection contains, for example, Korans and religious literature, fiction, biographies, travel books, textbooks, periodicals and calendars. It is categorised into four groups: Turko-Tatar, Arabian, Persian and Caucasian literature.

The Turcica Collection, together with the collections Arabica, Caucasica and Persica, are an important part of the Islamic literature printed in Russia.

The material can be studied in the Special Reading Room in Fabiania. Some of the material has been microfilmed, and there is a catalogue.
