The Tibet Collection

Lhasa Kanjur, the printed edition of which is also known as Zhol Kanjur or Zhol bka' 'gyur dpar ma, came into being in its present form in 1934. It took 14 years to put it together from various literary sources. The work began in 1920.

The Tibetan literature collection has been donated by Tibetan Lama Tsetul Pema Wangyal in December 1993. Other literature has been acquired as individual donations.

The collection consists of the following parts:
  • Lhasa-editio bka' 'gyur (=kanjur)
  • Bstan ' gyur (=tanjur)
  • Other Tibetan scientific literature
  • Commentaries to the canon (around 15 x 50 cm), single sheets
The collection consists of text editions reproduced from wooden plates in the 1990s. In the Lhasa-Kanjur collection there are altogether 100 volumes:

  • Vinaya (13 vols)
  • Prajñāpāramitā (21 vols)
  • Ratnakuta (6 vols)
  • Avatamsaka (6 vols)
  • Sūtra (30 vols)
  • Mahāparinirvanasūtra (2 vols)
  • Tantra (21 vols)
  • dKar chag (1 vol.)
