The Ephemera Collection

The Ephemera Collection contains approximately 3 million printings. The materials, publications associated with the activities of various communities, organizations and companies, consists primarily of guidebooks, instructions, invitations, menus, programs, catalogues, brochures, and calenders.

The Ephemera Collection has been organized into groups according to subject. The collection also features categories formed around certain publication types such annual reports, telephone directories, advertisements, exlibris, and posters.

Using the Ephemera Collection

When ordering, it is important to specify the name of the publication, the name of the publishing community or organization, as well as the year or decade of publication. In many cases, an identification of the publisher's domicle is absolutely necessary. Information concerning the publisher's field of activity is as helpful as the other source data.

Materials can be studied in the Fennica Reading Room. Publications printed before 1945, as well as materials in poor condition or with loose pages are sent to Special Reading Room. Industrial price lists for the period 1810-1944 have been digitized for online use; the originals are not loaned in reading rooms.
