Use of the Research Collection

The Research Collection is divided into a reference collection, open access collection and closed stack collection, which provides customers with material to special order.

Publications printed before the 1800s, and some more recent rare editions, are to be used in the Fabiania special reading rooms. Pre-1900 literature is loaned only for reading room use.

Almost all the material in the Research Collection can be accessed from the Helka database. Patrons themselves can retrieve materials from the reference collection and open access collection. Material from the closed stack are ordered with a call slip directly from the database or by filling in a printed call slip.

The delivery time on weekdays is two hours. The publications can be delivered on the same day if the order is made before 14.00/ 2 pm. The loan periods are 28 days for the open access collection and 180 days for the closed stack.
