The Aboica Collection
In a great fire in 1827 in Turku, the Royal Academy and its library were destroyed. After that, in 1828, the university was transferred to Helsinki, and the almost completely destroyed collections of the library had to be rebuilt. Only about 800 titles, which had been on loan, survived the fire and were moved to Helsinki. Some of them were placed in the Fennica Collection (the National Collection). In 1947 the rest of the books were collected into a book historical collection, the Aboica Collection.
The Aboica Collection consists of 729 titles, 493 volumes.
A copy of the catalogue is located in the Special Reading Room.
