Workstations for digitally preserved cultural materials
What can one do at the workstation?
It is possible to read texts, browse, view and listen to all the content in the Finnish Web Archive and Radio and Television Archive. It is also possible to read the digitised periodicals and newspapers. Digital copies cannot be taken of the data , but it is possible, with personal devices, to photograph the computer screen or record sounds through the loudspeakers.
Documents can be printed. Printing is subject to a fee.
The workstation is not connected to the Internet. It has the most common office programs installed, but files cannot be saved to any personal memory devices nor be e-mailed. Personal work should be done on one´s own laptop.
The National Library has three workstations. Two in the newspaper reading room and one in the music library.
