- Approximately 50 professionals are employed by the Centre
- The Centre was founded in 1990
Main tasks:
- Preservation of the published cultural heritage and production of facsimile copies of the National Library’s material by microfilming and digitising the material
- Responsibility for the production systems and production databases
- Responsibility for the development of the publishing system of digitised material (digi.nationallibrary.fi)
- Further development of metadata solutions for digitised material in cooperation with the other functional units of the National Library
- Active participation in cooperation in the library field, international organisations as well as EU projects
- Provision of digitisation and preservation services to external customers
