The Centre for Preservation and Digitisation

The Centre for Preservation and Digitisation is an expert in digitisation and preservation. The centre was founded in the year 1990 and currently employs approximately 50 people. The centre is responsible for the digitisation and preservation policies of the National Library of Finland.

Main tasks:

  • Preservation of the published cultural heritage and production of substitutive copies by microfilming and digitising the collections of the National Library of Finland
  • The responsibility for production systems, production databases and the development of the user interface digi.nationallibrary.fi
  • Enhancement of the metadata solutions for digitised materials in cooperation with other units from the National Library of Finland
