  • Approximately 50 professionals are employed by the Centre
  • The Centre was founded in 1990

Main tasks:

  • Preservation of the published cultural heritage and production of facsimile copies of the National Library’s material by microfilming and digitising the material
  • Responsibility for the production systems and production databases
  • Responsibility for the development of the publishing system of digitised material (digi.nationallibrary.fi)
  • Further development of metadata solutions for digitised material in cooperation with the other functional units of the National Library
  • Active participation in cooperation in the library field, international organisations as well as EU projects
  • Provision of digitisation and preservation services to external customers
