The Centre for Preservation and Digitisation
The Centre for Preservation and Digitisation is an expert in digitisation and preservation. The centre was founded year 1990 and currently employs approximately 50 people. The centre is responsible for the digitisation and preservation policies of the National Library of Finland.
Main tasks:
- preserves published cultural heritage and produce substitutive copies by microfilming and digitising the collections of the National Library of Finland
- is responsible for production systems, production databases, and the development of the user interface digi.nationallibrary.fi
- enhances the metadata solutions for digitised materials in cooperation with other units from the National Library of Finland
