Cultural materials’ archiving expanding
Published: 14.4.2008
According to a law that went into effect 1 January 2008, the archiving of cultural materials in Finland will expand to include online materials as well as television and radio programs. The National Library of Finland will be responsible for conserving online materials.
In the future, the tasks of the Finnish Film Archive, nowadays the National Audiovisual Archive, will also include the archiving of television and radio programs.
The new law governing the recording and conserving of cultural materials supersedes the current Legal Deposit Act and the Act on the Archiving of Films.
