Members of the Board

The National Library has a Board of Directors, the status of which is defined by Section 71 of the Universities Act.

The Board has a maximum of 13 members, each of whom has a personal deputy. The Board of the University of Helsinki appoints the members and deputy members of the Board as well as the chair from among the Board members.

After having consulted the libraries, the Ministry of Education submits a proposal to the Board of the University of Helsinki on the appointment of the members and personal deputies representing the Ministry and libraries. On the University of Helsinki’s proposal, the board shall appoint the same number of members and deputy members as proposed by the Ministry of Education.

In addition, a maximum of three board members and deputy members are appointed based on a joint proposal by the Ministry of Education and the University of Helsinki.

The Senate of the University of Helsinki has appointed the following persons to serve as members and deputy members on the Board of the National Library of Finland for the period from 1 August 2007 to 31 July 2010:
