Europeana Formula

Service description

Formula service allows Finnish archives, libraries and museums to submit metadata on their materials to Europeana.

Europeana is a pan-European digital cultural heritage portal (europeana.eu). Formula converts the metadata of the material into a form required for Europeana together with the organisation providing the material, and the National Library uses the service to arrange the metadata for Europeana’s examination. Formula is a service maintained by the National Library of Finland.

Formula only transfers metadata that describes the material and links to digital objects, which Europeana picks up directly from the organisation’s servers. Europeana gives the materials a wider audience and its contents are utilised in many innovative projects promoting the availability and use of digital culture.
