Collection description
The Manuscript Collection contains approx. 900 archives of individuals, families and associations. The private archive collection contains personal archives of individuals related to the history of ideas, learning and science as well as opinion-leaders in society and cultural life.
Professors, researchers, composers, authors and librarians are well-represented as professional groups. The Private Archive Collection contains also significant family and mansion archives from different centuries. The association archives contain archives from the fields of science, religion and art. Archives of the student nations of the University of Helsinki are included as deposits in the Manuscript Collection.
