Collection description

Dissertationes Veteres is the National Library of Finland's collection of old European dissertations, published before 1851. The library has a nearly perfect collection of dissertations from Lund and Uppsala. The Protestant universities of North Germany are also well represented, but the collection also has a wide range of dissertations from other European universities. The collection contains over 50,000 titles.

The Dissertationes Veteres collection includes the dissertation collection acquired by Count Jan Pieter van Suchtelen (Diss. Suchtelen), which was donated to the library in 1836.
