International digitisation seminar in Mikkeli in September

With Quality in Mind

The National Centre for Preservation and Digitisation/Centre for Microfilming and Conservation of the National Library of Finland will organise an international digitisation seminar together with the DigitalMikkeli Consortium in Mikkeli, Finland, on 23 September 2010. The theme will be the quality of digitisation from the user’s perspective.

The seminar is geared towards experts in digitisation and others working in the field.

The speakers will include people from across the world who are in charge of digitising and preserving collections: Deborah Novotny from the British Library, Cathy Pilgrim from the National Library of Australia and Claes Gejrot from the National Archives of Sweden. Presentations will also be given by digitisation experts from the National Library of Finland.

The evening entertainment will include a ballet performance starring dancers from the Mariinsky and Mikhaylovsky Theatres of St Petersburg.

Seminar fee: 110 € (including seminar and lunch) or 230 € (including seminar, lunch and evening entertainment)
